Enamored by the natural world all of my life, a former Science teacher, Art Major and plant life enthusiast, I decided to meld my interest and marry them with my love of creating.
I adore anything that involves a Process or a Ritual. This includes a daily walk in nature, a daily cup of tea and a daily reminder of the splendor of life. Indigo Shibori dyeing is also very process oriented. It has filled a space in my world that serves my desire to invent with nature in an expression of method and love.
A life Long Nantucketer, I live on island with my husband, dog and grown children (when they bless me with their company). Come for a visit and leave with my Nantucket Blues!
Love & Light, Lissie

Each piece is thoughtfully imagined and prepared.
Linens are pre-scoured, folded and wrapped in a “shibori’ tradition. 2 days are dedicated to the dying process . Once dyed and hung on the ‘laundry line’, it cures in the sun for another 24-48 hrs. Its final preparation is a post-dye wash, iron and packaging.
It’s not a fast process, but I feel that the discipline of the craft (and honestly, the joy )is in the ritualistic details and time dedicated to yield an exquisite product.

What is the Art of Indigo Shibori?
Shibori is an ancient Japanese technique of dyeing with Indigo, which dates back to the 8th century. The word “Shibori’ translates to wring or squeeze. Both Shibori and Indigo Vat dyeing is an Art, far more involved and complex than modern tie-dyeing.
My concentration is on Kanoko Shibori, Itajime Shibori and Arashi Shibori techniques. Likewise, using Indigo requires a multi-step approach to prepare and utilize. Welcome to the Art of Indigo Shibori!
